Took my vehicle in for a simple wheel alignment and oil change because my regular mechanic doesn't do alignments. Got a call from Sterling's that my vehicle "needed" nearly $1,000 worth of front end work and "oh, yeah, you could use tires, too" before you go on that trip. Nope, just do the oil change and nothing else. We immediately took the car to our usual mechanic who verified that there was normal wear on the parts but plenty of life in them, and nothing needed doing. The car then left the next day on a 2,000 mile road trip and returned with zero problems. Later heard from a friend of a similar story where he took in shocks, gifted to him, to have them installed on his vehicle that was working perfectly. He got the same kind of call with "your vehicle needs this and this and this, it'll cost about $1,000". I'll never go back.
