If you're a woman beware of this place! I'm certain they try to scam women and anyone who they think doesn't know better. Received an estimate for upwards of $1300. When I called them they claimed that most of it was just a "suggestion". They had the car for one issue. Quote that issue. Don't give me a quote for spark plugs, unnecessary fluid flushes, and whatever else you think you can tack on there. Was quoted nearly $350 dollars for spark plug replacements that they were not asked to quote at all. It should take less than an hour if any skilled mechanic were doing it. I myself am an amateur and am I able to do it in that time. Labor of $160, 4 spark plugs for $100, and $75 dollars for the spark plug boots. Spark plugs for this car are $10 a piece on average and you can pick up a 4 pack of boots for around $16. Seemed to be a lot of discrepancy there alone. Not to mention the rest of the invoice. I called and discussed with the individual who I'm assuming handles billing or invoices of some sort. He was hardly empathetic and couldn't begin to explain why their prices were so high. He asked me if we'd like to continue with their services at all and I debated having them fix the alternator, which was the reason the car was in the shop. I asked him if they waived the $160 diagnostic fee if we continued any service with them and he informed me that they do not. At this point I was already looking at over $700 dollars for an alternator replacement, but being that the car was inoperable and I am quite busy I decided to cool down and think it over After some debate and checking prices on parts I realized that $700 is an insane price for an alternator replacement on this particular car. I called back to inform them that we were coming to get the car, and the guy over the phone (who I talked with previously) tried to tell me that "there was a mistake with the computer and the spark plugs were priced too high", and that he only noticed when I said something. At this point I was incredibly suspicious of this place. If I wasn't somewhat mechanically inclined, I likely would've just taken their word for the prices and let them perform the maintenance without questioning it. This was my girlfriends car and she was the only one who had communication with them until I saw this ridiculous invoice. I'd be willing to bet this wasn't a mistake in the computer, but an attempt to scam a young woman who they believed didn't know any better. Who knows how many other people have fallen victim to the "computer overpricing parts". So dishonest. Edit: Completed some of the suggested maintenance on my girlfriends car this weekend. Took me around 2 hours to switch out the alternator and replace the spark plugs, and I'd by no means consider myself a professional. We were absolutely quoted for more labor than that from this scam shop, which is a joke in itself. I am also convinced they didn't even look at the spark plugs, because the spark plug boots looked immaculate and 100% did not need to be replaced. They had originally quoted us nearly $75 in parts just for new boots. The spark plugs probably took me 30 minutes start to finish, and $55 in parts, that price is including purchasing a new spark plug socket. If I had purchased all new boots, I would've been looking at an additional $16 dollars in parts. We were quoted nearly $350 for the entire job by Sterling Scam Care. ~ Also wanted to note that they left her trunk torn apart from when they needed access to the battery. Not a big deal, but just super unprofessional and honestly disappointing.
